This bronze fountain was built between 1867 and 1874. It was designed by Gabriel Davioud and was created in collaboration with several artists. Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux created the group “Four Parts of the World 2”, supporting a globe decorated with the twelve zodiac signs. Emmanuel Frémiet created the eight seahorses as well as the fish and turtles in the pool, Eugène Legrain carved the globe and the frieze of the zodiac signs, and Louis Villeminot created the frieze and garland that decorates the base.
