A family of nine – a mother and her eight descendants – lived in the Boston Public Garden for 30 years. They are bronze animal statues of the “wild duck” family, from the 1941 classic children’s book “Make Way For Ducklings”, which have been the family favorites in the park since they were installed in 1987.
These famous statues were designed by Nancy Schön and placed there “as a tribute to Robert McCloskey, his story “Make Duck for Ducklings” makes the Boston Public Garden familiar to children all over the world”.
