Iron railings and steel fences and gates are basically the same thing. Sometimes they are called iron fences and doors, but in most cases they are made of steel. We usually use primers and paints instead of powder coated fences. The powder coating, in our opinion, is an extended cost, which is not 100% guaranteed longer than the standard coating.
The problem with powder paint is that the fence will rust inside and you can’t see it. Suddenly, your metal fence rusted and split. Especially in the coastal areas of Venice Beach, Santa Monica and Los Angeles. When you have just added primer and paint, you see some rust forming on your wrought iron railing or door, you can just touch it with metallic paint to extend the life of the metal. With powder coating, if it starts to rust, you can’t really touch it. Both of these methods are great, but 90% of the fences, doors, and lane doors are installed using standard painting methods.
