Sculpture Introduction:
This Pieta Garden Statue is the work of Michelangelo. We make this pieta sculpture for a client from India. He is the pastor of the local church. He purchased the statue on behalf of their church. The height he requested was 152cm, and we made it with a piece of white marble. You could see that the mary holding Jesus statue we made has very fine details and a smooth and delicate surface. Our client also spoke highly of us after receiving this Jesus and Mary sculpture.
About Michelangelo:
Michelangelo was born in Caprese, near Arezzo, in 1475, but moved to Florence with his family at a young age. Here he studied under the famous painter Ghirlandaio at the age of 13 and later attended the Convent of San Marco, an art academy funded by Lorenzo de’ Medici. When Girolamo Savonarola’s Republic ousted the Medici family, Michelangelo left Florence, moved to Venice, and then briefly to Bologna. After returning to Tuscouldy in 1495, he set off for Rome the following year.
