Large Bronze Hawk Statue for School Garden BOK1-068

Introducing the Red Hawk Statue:

This beautiful 12-foot-tall bronze statue of a red eagle was installed in 2015 on the campus of Montclair State University. The hawk statue itself sits on the grass in front of the large windows in Fisher Auditorium.

For students, it’s the perfect location for their first photo on campus when they’re admitted and their last student photo when they graduate. Also, students dress up for the bronze hawk statue at different times. In addition, students rub the hawk statue’s beak for good luck while competing in finals and on game day.

Rocky is the School Mascot:

As the school’s mascot, Rocky was instrumental in inspiring and spreading the word about Red Hawk Pride. Not only does he attend big events like homecoming and graduation, but he also attends smaller events throughout the year!

Rocky the Red Hawk stands between 5’8″-6’″ tall and is very similar to the Red-Tailed Hawk. Because many members of our community may see red-tailed hawks flying over campus throughout the year. These red-tailed hawks would often roost in trees and utility poles.

Rocky is dedicated to spreading Red Hawk Pride and is a frequent participant in events both on and off campus. He never misses a homecoming or commencement, and he provides much support to the students, faculty, and staff at Montclair State University.

More School Hawk Sculpture Mascots:

The new eagle statue is located at the Hagen Arena and Ramsey Basketball Center. Raymond Gibby is the creator of the Crimson Hawk sculpture. The sculpture is made of bronze, a material that Gibby works exclusively with. He likes to use wild animals as inspiration for his art. Gent wanted to make sure the eagle statue was a realistic depiction of the red eagle, so Gibby made the statue true to size and certainly realistic to the eagle’s physique.

Because the eagle has the noble qualities of pride and loyalty. Many schools choose the eagle statue as a point of cohesion for the university. Hawk Statue inspires students to aspire to and live lives of faith, hope, and love.

There is an eagle sculpture at Lynnwood University in Missouri and the St. Louis Art Institute. This flying eagle was designed by Martin Linson. He also sculpted the eagle statue that adorns the stands at Sweeney Field. The new eagle sculpture weighs nearly 700 pounds and has a wingspan of approximately 8 feet.
