Bronze Horse Sculpture Detail:
Today, we share the fifth process of bronze horse casting, and the closest step to the end: casting.
So this bronze casting process is mainly divided into two parts.
1. Material selection
For bronze horse sculpture, the current and commonly used copper for casting is mainly brass, tin bronze, and pure copper.
Brass is copper with a certain zinc element. Generally, brass with a zinc content of about 30-40% is commonly used for art casting. Brass has good mechanical properties, good plasticity in hot and cold states, easy machinability, easy brazing and welding, and corrosion resistance. Gloss, fineness, and artistic expression are abundant. In addition, the price of brass is relatively cheap, which is the most commonly used material in the modern copper carving process.
Copper alloys other than brass and white copper are collectively referred to as bronze. Tin bronze is the oldest alloy used. In ancient China, it was commonly used to make things such as tripods, bells, weapons, bronze mirrors, etc. Tin bronze has good corrosion resistance, good toughness, easy processing, high hardness, small shrinkage, and good durability. It is also a commonly used art casting material.
2. Process Casting
The bronze casting process of the bronze horse sculpture process is complicated, involving all aspects of professional operation knowledge and steps, which will not be repeated here. A brief introduction is as follows.
For the Large bronze horse sculpture, the sintered spare hollow cavity is prepared. Weigh the appropriate amount of copper and zinc, tin, and other metals in proportion, put them into the crucible, and heat them to 1100-1500 °C. Until the copper and other metals in the crucible are completely melted and mixed. Then, the prepared copper liquid is immediately injected into the cavity, and after cooling, the outer sand shell is shattered, and the copper product is roughly peeled off.
For bronze horse sculptures, it is necessary to point out that because individual manufacturers pursue low-cost, vicious competition, they often use unqualified copper, inferior scrap copper, etc., and the process technology is not reasonable. Will cause various casting defects in the cast copper parts.
