If done incorrectly, it may be a tedious task to draw an iron fence. Before painting begins, remove all paint fences, remove all rust, and fence as smoothly as possible. This can be done by manual polishing, using a sandblasting machine or paint and rust remover. Remove the old paint instead of trying to paint it on it. This will prevent the new paint from breaking and peeling. When properly sprayed, the service life of your wrought iron fence will follow certain steps in the painting process rather than months.
Step 1. Prepare to remove the rust from the iron fence.
One important reason for removing rust is to ensure that the primer can be absorbed into the iron fence. Carefully observe whether the fence has any signs of rust. If there is rust, it needs to be removed correctly. Make sure you wear gloves, protective glasses and masks to protect yourself from releasing the particles during the rust removal process.
Step 2. Take a durable steel brush, steel wool or high sandpaper and start removing rust.
Now this part of the task can be very time-consuming, but this must be done through the appropriate iron fence painting. Once you have finished removing rust, you can use some of the lighter textured sandpaper to remove any residue from the remaining rough areas.
Step 3.Clean the fence with mineral oil.
Once all rusty and rough areas have been cleared, we need to properly clean the guardrail. This is done with mineral essential oil. Mineral essential oils help remove leftover residue from the fence, so clean the wrought iron fence thoroughly with mineral oil.
Step 4. Rinse with water.
Go back to the fence with regular water because the last flush will remove the remaining mineral elves from the iron fence. The mineral spirit may actually cause the iron fence to not properly absorb the fence.
Step 5. Fill the fence.
Find a good metal primer that you can purchase at the nearest hardware store. Pick up the primer and put down your first coat; This will make the paint better stick to the fence and prolong the life of the paint.
Step 6. Let the primer dry.
Once the primer is down and let it stay for about a day or so, we want to make sure it stays good and dry before painting.
Step 7.Make sure you have a paint that is strictly for metal surfaces.
All paints are not created equal, some paints are for wood, some for plastic and some for metal or iron.
Step 8.Paint the fence.
Add a couple of coats of paint to the fence. This will allow for a longer life of the wrought iron fence painting.
